Open roles

We are seeking an entrepreneurial ECVC lawyer to join Virgil as one of our first legal hires. In this leadership position, you will play a central role in driving the strategic growth and development of Virgil's ECVC practice. You will work primarily on ECVC matters, including venture capital financings, and will serve as a mentor and supervisor to some of our more junior team members.

Ideally, you've worked at a premier ECVC firm for 6+ years. You may be a junior partner or of counsel looking for a change of pace. You may be a senior associate approaching partnership, but who wants a different lifestyle and more innovative practice. You'll earn meaningful equity in this role, and also have a unique chance to help us build software products to improve all the things you don't love about working in big law.

We are seeking an experienced general corporate lawyer to join Virgil. In this role, you will serve as outside general counsel to early-stage, venture-backed tech companies. You may, among other things, review inbound and outbound contracts, advise on employment matters, and serve as a trusted counselor to our clients.

Ideally, you've served as in-house corporate or general counsel at a tech company for 2+ years. You'll be responsible for managing client relationships, identifying legal issues for our clients, delivering work product and improving our systems internally. You'll earn meaningful equity in this role. You'll also have the opportunity to work with AI researchers and software developers to build software products for corporate lawyers.

We are seeking a dynamic Head of People Ops to join Virgil. In this role, you will oversee HR functions, ensuring seamless integration with both corporate and client-facing operations. Responsibilities include managing employee background checks, end-to-end onboarding/offboarding, state withholding and unemployment insurance registrations, and administering employee benefits through a supported HR platform. Additionally, you will ensure compliance with local and federal regulations, balancing internal HR needs with those of clients.

Ideally, you have 5+ years of experience in a senior HR role, preferably within a fast-paced, high-growth environment. You may have served as an HR Director or Senior HR Manager, and are now looking to lead a comprehensive HR function where you can make a significant impact on both the organizational and client levels.

We are seeking an experienced Head of GRC to join Virgil. In this role, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of our organization's governance, risk management, and compliance programs, supporting both corporate operations and client services. This role involves establishing policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance, identifying and mitigating risks, and overseeing internal audits. You will work closely with senior leadership to integrate GRC strategies into the overall business plan, ensuring both corporate and client-facing aspects are addressed. Bonus points if you managed one of the following frameworks for audit readiness: SOC2, ISO, HIPAA, PCI, GDPR, or CCPA.

Ideally, you have 5+ years of experience in governance, risk management, and compliance roles, with a strong background in developing and implementing GRC programs for software companies. You may have held senior positions such as GRC Senior Manager or Director and are now seeking a leadership role that offers the opportunity to influence both corporate governance and client engagements. You may also have performed audits in the past and helped organization achieve certification and/or ongoing GRC needs.

We are seeking a meticulous Associate Bookkeeper to join Virgil. In this role, you will assist with maintaining accurate financial records for both corporate and client needs. Key tasks include on-demand bookkeeping, chart of account maintenance, transaction categorization, and reconciliation of bank and credit card accounts. Additionally, you will handle money in transit and payroll entries, and produce monthly financial statements. You will ensure efficient bookkeeping for all clients, maintaining high standards of accuracy and timeliness.

Ideally, you have 2+ years of experience in bookkeeping or a related financial role, with a solid understanding of accounting principles and practices. You may have worked as an accounting assistant or junior accountant and are now looking to apply your skills in a dynamic environment where you can contribute to both corporate and client financial operations.
